Handover
CareBoard brings together the relevant information already recorded when somebody else takes over. Review it, add context and share a clear handover without rebuilding the day from memory.
Handovers are based on information entered by your care circle and should be reviewed before sharing.
Care Circle
Invite family and carers to the CareBoard they help with. The people you invite can see the shared details and do not each need their own subscription.
You stay in control of who joins and what role they have.
Why CareBoard exists
CareBoard came from the practical problem of several people being involved in care and trying to keep everybody updated without relying on scattered messages, memory and repeated explanations.
It is a straightforward place for the details families need to share — designed around everyday care, not a clinical workflow.
I’m Chris Boyle, a family carer based in Dundee. I’ve been involved in caring for family for much of my life, helping care for my grandfather, who was blind and had significant mobility problems, and later my father, who needed full-time care after a serious stroke.
My wife and I also have two children with additional needs. We use CareBoard ourselves for appointments, reminders, tutoring, youth groups, health visits, food diaries and day-to-day coordination.
When several people are involved in someone’s care, keeping everyone informed can be difficult. While caring for my father, I was often trying to coordinate information between visiting carers, hospital staff, physiotherapists, GPs and family. Details ended up spread across messages, phone calls, appointments and conversations.
The first idea was simply a quick handover: a way to pull together what had happened and share it without having to remember and retype everything. That led to the idea behind CareBoard:
“Add something once when it happens, and the people who need to know can see it.”
CareBoard grew from that into the shared care organiser it is today.
